The Net Cash Pro method

Track → Analyze → Scoreboard → Action Plan

Every month the books are closed and reconciled (Track). The results are compared to plan, prior months and industry benchmarks (Analyze). Key measures of cash, margin, receivables and growth are summarised on a one-page Scoreboard with Green, Yellow and Red indicators. Then the owner and Net Cash Pro agree on a short list of actions for the month ahead.

The aim is positive net cash, not just reported profit. Many profitable DuPage County companies are short of cash because receivables, inventory, debt payments or owner draws are absorbing it. A CFO-level monthly review makes that visible and fixable.

What’s included

CFO judgment without a CFO salary

Monthly Scoreboard

Cash, margin, receivables, payroll ratio and growth on one page with Green/Yellow/Red indicators.

Cash flow forecasting

A rolling forecast that shows tight months in advance, for payroll, debt, tax payments and growth decisions.

Action Plan and strategy

A monthly meeting on pricing, hiring, financing, profitability by product or customer, and the decisions in front of you.

When it pays

Signs a business needs a fractional CFO

The service is designed for owner-led companies that have outgrown basic bookkeeping but cannot yet justify a full-time finance executive.

Profitable on paper, short on cash

If the P&L shows profit but the bank balance does not, the cash is going somewhere: receivables, inventory, debt principal or owner draws. A cash flow statement and forecast reviewed monthly finds it.

Growth decisions made on instinct

Hiring, a second location, a large equipment purchase or a new line of credit should be modelled before committing. A CFO builds the scenarios so the owner can see the downside as well as the upside.

The bank or investors want better reporting

Lenders want accrual-basis statements, covenant tracking and a forecast. A controller-level monthly close produces those routinely.

The Illinois PTE election

Illinois lets a partnership or S-Corp elect to pay state income tax at the entity level. That converts what would be a capped personal state-and-local-tax deduction into a fully deductible business expense, and owners receive a credit on their personal Illinois return. Whether it is worth electing depends on owner income and DuPage property tax bills, so it gets modelled every year rather than assumed.

Pricing

Flat fees, published up front

Net Cash Pro does not bill hourly. DuPage County clients get a fixed price before any work starts, so a question in September does not turn into an invoice.

Frequently asked

What does a fractional CFO cost in DuPage County?

Net Cash Pro’s Controller/CFO advisory starts at $1,995/month and includes everything in monthly bookkeeping plus the Scoreboard, cash flow forecasting, profitability analysis and a monthly Action Plan meeting. A full-time CFO in the Chicago area typically costs many times that in salary alone.

What size business is fractional CFO service right for?

Typically owner-led companies with roughly $1M to $20M in revenue: large enough that financial decisions carry real risk, but not yet large enough for a full-time CFO and controller.

How is this different from bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping records what happened. CFO advisory interprets it and plans what happens next: forecasting cash, analysing profitability, setting targets and meeting monthly to decide on actions. Net Cash Pro’s CFO service includes the bookkeeping.

Who would be my CFO?

Zahoor Hasson, EA, PMP, RMP, leads the CFO engagements, supported by Net Cash Pro’s bookkeeping team. His background combines tax, project management and risk management, and he has advised DuPage County small businesses since 2006.
